Ornate Hawk-Eagle
It is a majestic bird belonging to the Accipitridae family. With a wingspan ranging from 106 to 132 centimeters and a length of about 56 to 71 centimeters, this forest eagle displays an imposing appearance and remarkable plumage. It prefers dense, moist, and well-preserved areas. The nest provides a rare opportunity to observe its reproductive behavior and family interactions. The breeding of this species in the Atlantic Forest begins in August, with nest refurbishment. During this period, the female incubates a single egg for 48 to 51 days while being fed by the male.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Meeting with the guide in the morning at São Paulo Airport (GRU) and transfer to the Lodge in Tapiraí-SP.
Day 2 - This morning we will explore the inn's trail amid the lush vegetation of the Atlantic Forest, where several species of birds can be seen.
Day 3 - A day dedicated to monitoring the Ornate Hawk-Eagle at the nest for photography and observation. This forest eagle, a member of the Accipitridae family, is found in tropical forests, typically preferring areas with dense, moist, and well-conserved forests.
Day 4 - To visit the Parque Estadual Turístico do Alto Ribeira (PETAR). The park is considered one of the most important Conservation Units in the world. It shelters the largest preserved portion of the Atlantic Forest in Brazil and over 300 caves. Where we will see many forest birds.
Day 5 - Return to the Ornate Hawk-Eagle nest for new photo opportunities. With the possibility of warning other hawks and owls.
Day 6 - Transfer to the Lodge in Miracatu-SP. The Inn is a bird watching point located in a preserved stretch of the Atlantic Forest, close to an area that includes State Parks and Conservation Units. With more than 320 species of birds, it is a must-visit destination for bird lovers.
Day 7 - On the last day of the tour we will explore the lodge's feeder and water fountain in the morning, highlighting beautiful colorful birds. After lunch, transfer to São Paulo Airport (GRU).

Tour Extension 1: Southern Muriqui
One-day extension for observing the southern muriqui, one of the most endangered and fascinating primate species in the world, with an estimated population of about 1,000 individuals. The conservation status is CR = Critically Endangered. The distribution area of this magnificent primate is highly restricted, primarily located in the Atlantic Forest in the state of São Paulo. With a preference for high-altitude areas, the southern muriqui is often spotted in mountainous forests at over 300 meters above sea level. During this extension of the tour, participants will have the unique opportunity to observe and document these incredible primates in their natural habitat, exploring a protected forest specifically dedicated to the preservation of the southern muriqui. Additionally, visitors will have the chance to visit a conservation center and participate in a reintroduction program, contributing to efforts aimed at increasing the population of these endangered animals.
Tour Extension 2: Scarlet Ibis
Extension of the 1-day tour for Scarlet Ibis bird watching, one of the most impressive and threatened birds on the planet, with an estimated population of about 5,000 individuals. The conservation status is considered VU = Vulnerable. The Scarlet Ibis is known for its vibrant plumage in shades of red and orange, making it a true jewel of the Brazilian fauna.The chosen region for observing these birds, concentrated in mangroves and estuaries along the Atlantic coast, stands out as a vital ecosystem for the survival of the Scarlet Ibis. Besides providing a conducive environment for feeding, these areas also play a crucial role in the reproduction and protection of the birds against predators.During this extension, participants will have the unique opportunity to observe and photograph these stunning birds in their natural habitat.
